Tanya Parish is a highly experienced researcher and educator in the field of microbiology and drug discovery. Currently serving as Principal Investigator at Seattle Children's since December 2019, Tanya also holds a professorship at the University of Washington where tenure began in August 2009. Previous roles include Chairperson for the Drug Discovery and Mechanisms of Antimicrobial Resistance Study Section at NIAID/NIH from July 2019 to July 2021 and Editor In Chief at Microbiology from July 2015 to June 2020. Tanya's leadership in drug discovery was demonstrated through senior roles at the Infectious Disease Research Institute between November 2007 and December 2019. Academic contributions began as a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine from February 1993 to September 2000, and as a PhD student at the National Institute for Medical Research from 1989 to 1993, where a PhD in Mycobacterial Genetics was obtained. Tanya holds a BSc in Microbiology and Genetics from UCL, completed in 1989.
