Michael Bylsma

Michael Bylsma brings extensive experience in special education and educational leadership, currently serving as the Director of Special Education - School-based Services for Seattle Public Schools since July 2017, with prior roles in Mercer Island School District as Assistant Director of Special Education. Michael has a proven track record in program development, oversight of special education regulations, and leading professional development initiatives. Previous positions include Assistant Principal in Northshore School District and Program Coordinator and Teacher in Mercer Island School District. Michael's educational background includes a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from Seattle Pacific University, a Teaching Certification from Notre Dame de Namur University, and a Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature from San José State University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in English from Washington State University.
