Eric Schweikert currently serves as the Principal Timpanist for the Seattle Symphony and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, a position held since 1989. Schweikert has also been the Principal Timpanist for Eastern Music Festival Inc. since 2012 and has been part of the faculty at this summer music camp since 1992, progressing from principal percussionist to principal timpanist. In addition, Schweikert held the role of Director of Percussion at Purdue University Fort Wayne until May 2024 and was a Lecturer in Timpani at the University of Michigan from 2014 to 2016. Previous experience includes serving as Acting Principal Timpanist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and principal percussionist at Eastern Music Festival from 1993 to 2011. Eric Schweikert's formal education includes a Bachelor of Music Performance in Timpani/Percussion from the Cleveland Institute of Music and additional training at The Juilliard School and Interlochen Arts Academy.
