Claude Courbois, PhD, CFA, currently serves as a Financial Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since October 2023. Prior to this role, Claude held multiple positions at Nasdaq from September 2000 to August 2021, including Vice President of Nasdaq Global Indexes, where leadership of a team of over 40 analysts and developers involved the selection of securities for numerous benchmarks, and Vice President, Managing Economist in Economic Research, overseeing a team recognized for high-quality market analysis. Additional roles included leading teams in business and product development, where innovative data products generated significant revenue, and contributing to research on pricing models. Before Nasdaq, Claude was a Research Analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute, focusing on food markets in developing countries. Claude earned a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a PhD in Economics with a focus on Environmental Economics from North Carolina State University.
