Katherine Carman is an accomplished economist with a strong academic and professional background. Katherine earned a PhD in Economics from Stanford University in 2003 and a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1996. Katherine served as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Scholar at Harvard University from 2003 to 2005, followed by a position as an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University from 2005 to 2012. Katherine later worked as a Senior Economist at the RAND Corporation from 2012 to 2023 and currently holds the role of Senior Financial Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a position held since April 2023.
