Marc Mehrespand

Marc Mehrespand is an experienced legal professional specializing in investment management and regulatory issues. Currently serving as Branch Chief and Senior Counsel in the Chief Counsel's Office of the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since January 2020, Marc has previously held the role of Counsel at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where representation focused on blockchain and virtual currencies. As the Principal of Marc Mehrespand’s Law Offices from April 2015 to July 2018, significant counsel was provided to investment advisers with over US$200 billion in assets under management. Earlier experience includes a Partner position at K&L Gates, where responsibilities involved structuring and operating U.S. investment management entities, and an Associate role at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, focusing on comparative analysis in corporate and securities law. Marc holds both a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs and a Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University.
