Michael K.

Michael K. has extensive experience in the financial and regulatory sectors, currently holding the position of Acting Assistant Director in the Office of Securities Based Swaps Surveillance and Monitoring at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since August 2021. As a member of the Broker Dealer Examination program and co-leader of the Cyber Advanced Technology Working Group, Michael K. focuses on the intersection of technology and analytics in regulation. In addition to this role, Michael has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 2014, teaching courses on database accounting systems, enterprise accounting, and fraud examination. Michael's previous positions include Fellow at the Partnership for Public Service, Lead Risk Data Scientist at BMO Financial Group, and various roles in forensic accounting and data analytics at notable firms such as Ryan, The Sargent Consulting Group, Deloitte & Touche, and KPMG LLP.
