Sherry Yavelak

Sherry Yavelak has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Sherry is currently working as a Sr. Sales Engineer at Seclore since April 2022. Prior to that, they worked at American Express as an Information Security Manager from September 2014 to March 2022. Before that, they worked at Wells Fargo as an Information Security Engineer from February 2011 to September 2014. Sherry also has experience in the field of network and computer systems administration, having worked at LifeLock as a Network and Computer System Administrator from November 2010 to March 2011. Additionally, they worked as an IT Support Specialist III from September 2008 to November 2010, and as a Member Services Agent from February 2008 to September 2008 at LifeLock. Sherry also has experience in executive roles, having served as the Vice President of Operations at NanoSignal Corp from September 2003 to January 2005, and as a Lead Software Engineer from September 2002 to September 2003. Sherry previously worked at Virginia Tech as a Computer Systems Administrator from January 2002 to September 2002, and as a Video-Conferencing Network Operator from August 2001 to January 2002. Sherry's early career includes a Co Op role at IBM from January 1998 to December 1999.

Sherry Yavelak attended Virginia Tech from 1996 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2016, they became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through (ISC)². In 2014, they obtained the SANS/GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC) certification from GIAC, as well as the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC). Furthermore, in 2010, they obtained the RHCSA - Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification from Red Hat.
