Jon Knepp

Jon Knepp is currently a Senior Security Consultant at Secure Ideas. Before that, they worked as a Senior Technical Specialist at Ovintiv from November 2016 to June 2020. In this role, they were responsible for setting operational standards and the technology roadmap for the company as well as providing oversight of multiple IT managed service teams. Jon also monitored service provider’s performance indicators and set expectations and priorities for service delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.

Some of Jon’s key contributions during their time at Ovintiv include defining and maintaining the technology roadmap for datacenters, servers, virtualization, and storage for a multinational company; driving better alignment between the managed service provider and our corporate vision and strategy; and addressing technical debt by making opportunistic budget choices to steer spending towards preferred technologies during tight budget cycles. Jon also optimized an RFP to replace the infrastructure managed service provider by providing a current state summary and gap analysis enabling RFP bidders to deliver tailored proposals targeting our organizational needs and challenges. In addition, they provided strategic guidance as part of the Cloud Governance Council regarding requisite foundational capabilities and controls needed to extend the infrastructure service catalog into Azure.

Jon is also experienced in implementing Powershell-based integrations between ServiceNow, NetApp, VMware, Cohesity, Nutanix, and the System Center Management Suite in order to automate incident and configuration management tasks. Jon has also overseen multiple datacenter migrations and consolidation projects as well as a major acquisition and integration.

Jon Knepp has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
