Robert Acosta has extensive work experience as a Chief Infosec Engineer at Secure Mission Solutions, a Parsons Company, and Secure Mission Solutions (formerly WareOnEarth). Robert specialized in IA CND infrastructure, with expertise in firewalls, IPS, routers, load balancing systems, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SSL VPNs, and application proxies. Robert was involved in RDT&E for firewall, VPN, and IA systems, as well as network security architecture and design.

Robert Acosta has a diverse education history with a focus on computer engineering, networking, and cybersecurity. Robert obtained a Certificate in Computer Engineering from Wright State University in 1989. In 1991, they completed the IMF Operator and System Programming Course and the SMF Operator and System Programming Course, both of which focused on computer programming and specific applications. Robert also completed the Vindicator MCE Course in the same year.

In 1995, Acosta pursued several Cisco certifications, including the Cisco Advanced Networking and router course, Cisco Basic router course, Cisco Intrusion Detection course, Cisco TCP/IP Networking course, and Cisco troubleshooting course. These certifications covered topics such as advanced switching and routing, computer systems networking and telecommunications, network and computer intrusion detection and prevention, and TCP/IP networking.

Acosta further expanded their knowledge in 1996 by completing the V1 Smartwall Training, which focused on firewalls and network defense. In 2000, they obtained a Certificate in SecureComputing G2 Firewall course and advanced training, which encompassed firewalls, SecureComputing Advanced Firewall configuration, operation, and network defense.

Robert continued to pursue certifications in 2007 by completing the Advanced Juniper Networks IPSec VPN Implementations course, the Certified Information Systems Security Professional CBK Review Seminar, and the Configuring Juniper Networks Firewall/IPSec VPN Product course. These certifications covered topics such as firewall, IPSEC, VPN, network packet inspection, diagnostics, network defense, and CISSP.

In 2008, Acosta obtained the CISSP certification from ISC2. That same year, they also completed the HBSS Hands On Admin level 4-day classroom course, which focused on host-based security systems using McAfee ePO.

In 2010, Acosta obtained the Linux+ certification from CompTIA. In 2019, they completed the Forcepoint Next Generation Certified Forcepoint NGFW System Engineer Training.

Overall, Acosta has a strong background in computer engineering, networking, firewalls, IPSec VPNs, and network defense, with a focus on security.
