James Christiansen is currently an advisor at Security Advisor Alliance. Prior to this, they were with Cyberstarts - The Founders Powered VC, and before that, Eclipz.io, Inc. Their most recent position before becoming an advisor was with Teradata, where they served as VP and Chief Information Security Officer from February 2018 to October 2019.
At Teradata, James led a global team charged with providing information and physical security practices. James developed critical success criteria for balancing acceptable risk with remediation expenditures, including a “risk dashboard” for the executive team and board of directors to use in making smart investments in information security. Under James’ leadership, the team created state-of-the-art practices for information security, including policies and controls, third-party risk management, investigation and response capabilities, and security technologies. This work laid the foundation for security management that enables businesses to meet regulatory requirements while also making more effective investments in security. As a result of their efforts, the executive team was satisfied with the level of security at the company.
Before joining Teradata, James held various positions in information security and risk management. James has a wealth of experience in the industry and is well-respected by their peers. Their advice and guidance have helped many companies improve their security posture and avoid costly mistakes.
James Christiansen has a Master Business Administration from Westminster College in International Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management also from Westminster College.
