Sumaiya Omar

Sumaiya Omar has a diverse work experience spanning from 2009 to present. Sumaiya began their career as a Graduate Intern at Standard Bank South Africa, where they later worked as a Product Analyst and then as a Product Manager. In 2012, they moved to FNB South Africa and held positions as a Product Manager and a Product Solutions Manager. Most recently, in 2017, Sumaiya founded Hashtag Our Stories, where they focus on constructive/solutions journalism by creating mobile optimized shows that empower individuals to tell stories using their smartphones and wearable devices.

Sumaiya Omar attended Orient School in Durban from the year 2000 to 2004, where they completed their high school education and received a Matriculation degree. Following this, they enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics from 2005 to 2009. Later, in 2015-2016, Sumaiya Omar attended Stellenbosch Business School, where they participated in the FNB Future Generation Leadership Programme with a focus on Organizational Leadership.
