Alexander Wilson

Alexander Wilson, PhD, has a diverse background in data science, geology, and volcanology. Their most recent position is as a Lead Data Scientist at Seequent, starting in December 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Data Scientist and Technical Product Owner at Minerva Intelligence Inc. from August 2021 to January 2023. Alexander also served as a Senior Geologist at the same company from September 2020 to August 2021.

In 2022, Alexander worked as an independent consulting volcanologist at Natural Resources Canada. Their responsibilities included assisting in field mapping and sampling expeditions, photogrammetry modeling, and assessing volcanic history and eruption risk.

Alexander Wilson, PhD, has a diverse education history. Alexander began with a NCEA qualification from Rangitoto College in 2008. In 2012, they completed a Bachelor of Music (MusB) degree at the University of Otago. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's of Sciences (BSc) degree in Geology/Earth Science at the same university, graduating in 2013. In 2014, Alexander earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Music from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Alexander then continued their education at The University of British Columbia, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Volcanology/Geology in 2019.
