Amir Alavi, PhD

Amir Alavi, PhD, is currently working as a Machine Learning Researcher/Engineer III at Seer, starting in September 2022. Previously, they held the role of Machine Learning Researcher/Engineer II at the same company from September 2021 to September 2022, where they developed a novel adversarial neural network approach to correct batch-effects in LCMS proteomics data and presented their work at conferences.

Before joining Seer, Dr. Alavi worked as a Research Intern at Microsoft in 2019, where they focused on machine learning approaches to decoding the immune system within the Microsoft Research Immunomics team.

In 2017, they served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University, and in 2016, they were a Software Engineering Intern at Apple. Additionally, Dr. Alavi gained experience as a Software Engineering Intern at Microsoft in 2015 and as a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan in the same year.

Amir'sprofessional journey started in 2014 as a Software Engineering Intern at Intel Corporation.

Amir Alavi, PhD, completed their education in a chronological manner. Amir first attended the University of Michigan College of Engineering from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science. Following this, Amir pursued further studies at Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science. From 2016 to 2021, they successfully completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Machine Learning and Computational Biology. Additionally, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Machine Learning from the same institution, which they accomplished from 2019 to 2021.
