Willy Pena Buttner

Willy Pena Buttner has a wealth of experience in various roles within the sales and business development field. From 2006 to 2012, they worked at Izasa Scientific as a Product Manager for Shimadzu and BioTek Instruments. In 2012, they joined Molecular Devices, where they were responsible for the BioResearch Distribution in EMEAI, Indo Pacific, and Latin America. During their time at Molecular Devices, Willy successfully implemented distributor screening, recruitment, on-boarding, training, and commercial development. Willy also excelled in forecasting sales, bookings, analyzing competition, and understanding the voice of the customer.

In 2014, Willy joined VERTEX Technics S.L as the Molecular Devices Business Development Manager, where they developed the Molecular Devices Business Plan in Spain and Portugal and managed the Marketing and Sales Team.

From 2015 to 2018, Willy worked at ELGA LabWater in multiple roles. As an International Business Development Manager, they were responsible for managing distributors, developing new business, and coordinating activities with various teams. Later, as a Channel Manager, they prioritized markets, determined market entry strategies, and collected and analyzed market data to drive growth and develop markets in EMEA and LATAM.

In 2018, they joined Illumina as an Executive Partner Account Manager for the Emerging Markets Territory. Willy was commercially responsible for the assigned territory, including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, and all of Southern & Eastern Africa. Willy played a pivotal role in achieving significant growth and co-owned the strategy for Africa and Central/Eastern Europe.

Most recently, in 2023, Willy started working at Seer as the Associate Director Sales Development EMEA.

Willy Pena Buttner's education history indicates that they obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree in Business Administration from ESIC Business & Marketing School in the years 2014-2015. Prior to that, from 2000-2006, Buttner attended UNIVERSIDAD COMPLUTENSE MADRID, where they earned a Degree in Biological Sciences. At the same university and during the same period, they also received a degree in Biology, specifically in the field of general Biology. In addition, they obtained a Licenciado degree in Biologia from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in the years 2000-2005. Before attending university, Buttner completed their Swiss Kantonale Matura in German in 1999, and a Zentrale Mittelstufenprufung in English in 1997. Willy had also completed their German education from Kindergarten to High School while attending the Swiss School in Madrid.

In terms of additional certifications, Buttner has obtained several course certificates from Coursera. These include certifications in Channel Management and Retailing in October 2016, Pricing Strategy in August 2016, and Brand and Product Management in July 2016.
