Cal Coggins

Cal Coggins has extensive experience in education and customer success roles. They began their career as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Germany, where they taught English and facilitated cultural exchange activities. They later worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of South Carolina. In 2016, Cal worked as a student teacher and then as a German and IB Theory of Knowledge Teacher in Richland School District 2, where they prepared students for international assessments and revised the district's world language curriculum. Cal also worked as a German Dual-Language Immersion Teacher in Lexington County School District One, successfully delivering instruction in various modes and maintaining effective communication with parents. They also served as a German Curriculum and Sample Material Writer for the South Carolina Department of Education, developing a German-language science curriculum. In 2018, Cal worked as a Merchandiser for Republic National Distributing Company, managing beverage portfolios at various retail outlets. They also gained experience as an Event Staff and Part-Time Brewery Assistant at Bierkeller Columbia. In 2020, Cal joined Seesaw Learning as a Customer Success Manager, streamlining team workflow, creating new processes for customer deliverables, and meeting project deadlines. Most recently, they worked as a Virtual Content Developer for Virtual Virginia, where they designed a turnkey German 1 course and created digital content. Overall, Cal Coggins has demonstrated a strong ability to deliver effective instruction, develop curriculum, and provide excellent customer support.

Cal Coggins completed their education in German Language and Literature at the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from 2006 to 2010. They then pursued further studies in Foreign Language Education with a concentration in German at the University of South Carolina, obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from 2013 to 2016. In between their undergraduate and graduate studies, Cal attended Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg in 2009 and 2010, focusing on German Language and Pre-Modern European History without obtaining a degree.

Cal Coggins also holds various certifications in instructional design and other areas. They obtained certifications such as Agile Instructional Design, Instructional Design: Adult Learners, Instructional Design: Creating Video Training, Instructional Design: Working with SMEs, and SQL Essential Training from LinkedIn in August 2021. Additionally, they acquired certifications in Instructional Design Essentials: Models of ID and Instructional Design: Needs Analysis from LinkedIn in July 2021. They also obtained a certification in Roving and Informal Interpretation from the Eppley Institute in October 2020. Finally, Cal received the South Carolina Professional Educator Certificate (Masters) from the South Carolina Department of Education in July 2020.
