Cody Powell is currently employed as the VP of Engineering at Seesaw Learning, where they lead a team of around 50 individuals responsible for various aspects of product engineering, platform engineering, QA, and IT. Under their tenure, Seesaw has launched significant product initiatives, including a mobile app rewrite, messaging features, and enhanced security measures. Cody also played a pivotal role in implementing engineering levels and a new team structure to enhance sustained product velocity, mentorship, and high-impact engineering investments. Additionally, they have bolstered high availability, improved AWS costs, and increased quality and velocity while fostering a strong engineering culture. Prior to joining Seesaw, Cody worked at Snap Inc. as a Senior Engineering Manager, leading the Core Infrastructure and Service Infrastructure groups. During their time at Snap, their team successfully transitioned the company's backend from a monolithic structure to a multi-cloud environment with regionalized microservices. Before that, Cody served as the Director of Engineering at TUNE, where they oversaw four teams comprising over 30 individuals responsible for developing and managing the TUNE Connect product line. Cody focused on tracking, managing, and reporting vast amounts of data pertaining to mobile advertising. At Amazon, Cody worked as a Software Development Manager for the Instant Video division, where they led the Android Store and Core Infrastructure teams. During their tenure, they delivered a seamless mobile video experience through a native Android application on various devices. Prior to Amazon, Cody co-founded Famigo, Inc., where they served as the CTO. There, they spearheaded the development of Famigo Sandbox, an Android app that ensured a safe and ad-free environment for children to access content. The app garnered millions of downloads and was preloaded on devices by Samsung and sold as a monthly package by AT&T. Cody began their career at Grasshopper as a Lead Software Engineer, where they led efforts in rearchitecting and rewriting the company's VOIP platform. The revamped system, which incorporated a test-driven, service-oriented architecture, successfully scaled to accommodate tens of thousands of business users. Finally, Cody started their career as a Software Engineer at American Innovations, where they contributed to building a sensor network for the oil and gas pipeline industry. Their work focused on distributed systems, embedded systems, and the implementation of agile processes such as Scrum, sprint planning, unit testing, and continuous integration.

Cody Powell attended Trinity University from 1999 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor's degree with honors (cum laude) in Economics and Computer Science. From 2004 to 2005, they pursued further education at The University of Texas at Austin, focusing on Computer Science and Math.
