Akil Callender is an experienced energy professional with a strong background in sustainability and climate change. As an Energy Officer, Youth Specialist, and Country Focal Point for Barbados at Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), Akil has championed youth engagement in energy initiatives. In addition, Akil serves as an Advisory Board Member for RES4Africa Foundation and has worked as an Energy Consultant for The World Bank, alongside serving as a Climate Change Research and Analysis Intern in the Energy and Extractives Global Practice. Akil represented Trinidad and Tobago as a Youth Delegate at the UN Climate Change conference, Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition, and previously held the position of Team Assistant at the Energy Saving Trust. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Energy, Society and Sustainability from The University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from The University of the West Indies, Mona.
