Karoline Blaabjerg has a diverse work experience in the field of animal nutrition and feeding. Karoline is currently working at SEGES Innovation as a Chief Scientist, a position they have held since June 2023. Prior to that, they were the Head of the Department of Nutrition and Feeding at SEGES Innovation from October 2021 to May 2023. Karoline also served as a Chief Scientist at SEGES Innovation from March 2021 to September 2021.
Before joining SEGES Innovation, Karoline worked at Kopenhagen Fur, starting in April 2020 as the Head of Kopenhagen Fur Farm and Feed Research, where they conducted research to optimize feed and feeding strategies for mink. Karoline also served as a Trial Leader in Feed Research and Feed Consulting from October 2017 to March 2020, and as a Feed Scientist/Advisor from April 2017 to September 2017, at Kopenhagen Fur.
Prior to their time at Kopenhagen Fur, Karoline had a significant tenure at Aarhus University, Department of Animal Science, starting as a Scientific Assistant from January 2009 to May 2009. Karoline then worked as a Post Doc from June 2009 to April 2014, conducting research on the metabolism, requirement, and utilization of nutrients in pigs. Later, they became an Assistant Professor from April 2014 to March 2017, focusing on reducing nutrient excretion in pigs.
Karoline's academic journey started as a PhD student at Aarhus University/University of Copenhagen in November 2003, where they worked on projects related to improved phosphorus utilization. Karoline also had a research assistant role during their PhD studies from June 2008 to October 2008.
Furthermore, Karoline has worked as a Research Assistant at the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Research Center Foulum, from November 2004 to October 2005, and from October 2002 to October 2003.
Karoline began their career as a Trainee at The National Committee for Pig Production, Department of Nutrition and Reproduction, from August 2000 to January 2001.
Karoline Blaabjerg began their education by attending Slagelse Gymnasium from 1991 to 1994. After completing their secondary education, they went on to study Agricultural Science at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland as an Erasmus student from 1998 to 1999. Blaabjerg then pursued their undergraduate degree at The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, where they obtained a MSc, Cand. Agro. in Animal Science from 1995 to 2002. Continuing their academic journey, they completed their PhD in Animal Science at Københavns Universitet (University of Copenhagen) from 2003 to 2008.
