Sally Barnes

Educational Consultant at Seidlitz Education

Sally Barnes found her love for language learning in junior high, and never strayed from the dream of being a language teacher. She experienced the fun of learning French and Spanish in high school, and followed that passion to get her degree in Secondary Education – Spanish at Northern Arizona University. She volunteered as an English teacher in an elementary school in San Jose, Costa Rica while living abroad, and served as an ELL and Spanish teacher in Arizona and Colorado. She found her way to Texas in 2014 and began teaching at a high school in Houston.

Sally met Anna Matis at a state foreign language conference in 2018, and the journey with Seidlitz started there! She has loved working with districts all over the state to learn how to serve ANY language learner – whether they’re English Language Learners or World Language Learners. She was named Texas Foreign Language Association’s Teacher of the Year in 2018, and she is currently a Spanish teacher in Katy ISD, where she serves as a lead mentor and curriculum writer for the campus and district.
