Marko Hakala currently serves as the Chairman of the Board at KIVIPURO RY since April 2023 and as a City Councilor for the City of Seinäjoki since June 2021. In various roles within Seinäjoki, Hakala holds positions as the Vice Chairman of the Seinäjoki City Council's Kokoomus group, Vice Chairman of Nurmo's Kokoomus board, and Vice Chairman of the Seinäjoki Welfare Board, as well as serving as a mentor for the Seinäjoki Youth Council. Additionally, Hakala is an Area Councilor for the South Ostrobothnia Welfare Region and participates in the regional council and its personnel and development committee since January 2022. In the private sector, Hakala has been the Vice Chairman of the Board at Seinäjoki Areena Oy since June 2021 and has been the Executive Director of the South Ostrobothnia district of the War Invalids' Brotherhood since 2011, after serving in a representative capacity from 1999 to 2011. Hakala has experience as a freelance sports journalist from September 2018 to May 2023. Educationally, Hakala is a graduate of the Helsinki IV Health Care Institute as a Physiotherapist and has additional education from Sedu Seinäjoki.
