John Torok

John Torok has extensive experience in labor relations, education, and social activism. Currently serving as the President of SEIU Local 1000's DLC 743, representing approximately 1,700 workers in San Francisco and San Mateo counties, John also works as an Employment Program Representative for the California Employment Development Department. Previous roles include Labor Studies Lecturer at City College of San Francisco, Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley's Center for Research on Social Change, and various positions within SEIU Local 1000, including Job Steward. John participated in the Occupy Wall Street movement and has a strong academic background, holding multiple law degrees and a Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley. Additionally, John has contributed to international discussions on politics, economics, and religion through participation in the World Association of International Studies.
