Kirk Heacock

Kirk Heacock has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Kirk began their career as a Computer Programmer at Planned Systems Incorporated in 1995, where they supported the Patuxent Inventory System for Property. Kirk then worked as a Systems Administrator IV at Northrop Grumman Corporation from 1996 to 2013, providing support for electronic document management systems. Following this, Heacock served as the Technical Lead - Senior Information Systems Administrator at DESI from 2013 to 2016, overseeing the operations of the e.POWER Workflow and Hummingbird document management systems. Kirk then transitioned to a role as a Cybersecurity Analyst at SENTEL Corporation from 2016 to 2018, ensuring the security of customer applications and systems. Heacock worked as an Information Systems Security Officer at SPNSolutions from 2018 to 2019, assisting the ISSMs in implementing and enforcing cybersecurity policies. From 2019 to 2021, they served as an Information Systems Security Officer at DTS, supporting the migration to the DHA MedCOI and assisting with CMMC-related activities. Most recently, Heacock worked as a Senior CIP Analyst at Certrec from 2021 to 2022, focusing on critical infrastructure protection. Kirk is currently employed as an Information System Security Officer at SeKON Enterprise, Inc. since October 2022.

Kirk Heacock has a diverse education history. Kirk earned a Master's Degree in Information Systems and Information Technology Management through the Fast Track Executive Master of Science program at Virginia Commonwealth University - School of Business from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Maryland Global Campus, where they studied from 1993 to 1995. Additionally, they hold another Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. Mary's College of Maryland, which they completed from 1985 to 1989.

In terms of certifications, Kirk has attained various credentials. Kirk obtained the ITIL® Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from PEOPLECERT in August 2014. Kirk is also a Microsoft Certified Professional, acquiring the certification from Microsoft in April 2012. Furthermore, they hold the Microsoft® Certified Technology Specialist: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuration certificate, which they obtained from Microsoft in December 2010. Kirk is a holder of the Security + CE certification from CompTIA, achieved in December 2014. In August 2017, they obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, granted by (ISC)2.
