Michael H. Lanza

Michael H. Lanza is the EVP, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Selective Insurance. Michael has over 25 years of experience as a lawyer and corporate executive.

Lanza began their career as an attorney at Sorokin Sorokin Gross Hyde & Williams PC in 1986. Michael then became Vice President & Assistant General Counsel, International at CIGNA Corporation in 1993. In this role, they were responsible for all aspects of a special project assessing and resolving a wide range of issues involving a complex investment in a Brazilian HMO/health insurer.

In 2000, Lanza was recruited to QuadraMed Corporation as an Executive Vice President. Michael served as the Chief Legal/Compliance and Communications/Marketing Executive in a crisis turnaround situation at a publicly-traded healthcare IT company. Michael left QuadraMed in 2003 and became an Independent Corporate Advisor and Legal Consultant.

In 2004, Lanza joined Wellfleet Corporation as a Principal. Michael then joined Selective Insurance in 2010 as EVP, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer.

Michael H. Lanza graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with a JD and from the University of Connecticut with a BA in Honors Scholar in Political Science.

They are on a team with Joe Eppers - EVP & Chief Investment Officer, Brenda Hall - EVP, Commercial Lines & COO, and Mark A. Wilcox - EVP & CFO. Their manager is John J. Marchioni, President & CEO.
