Charles Wetzel serves as the County Traffic Engineer for Seminole County Government since July 2000, managing a team of 32 staff within the Traffic Engineering Division. Responsibilities include signal maintenance for 385 signals, signing and striping across 900 miles of County roadways, and overseeing 400 miles of aerial and underground fiber, along with various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices. Prior experience includes roles as Project Manager at VHB (1999-2000) and HNTB (1997-1999), and District Traffic Engineer at the Massachusetts Highway Department (1989-1997). Charles Wetzel holds a Master of Science in Transportation and Highway Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
