Gokay S. has a long and varied work experience. Gokay began their career in 1996 as a Researcher at TUBITAK, where they designed cryptographic algorithms and protocols for communication systems, developed a software library used in testing data randomness, and worked in security evaluation and standardization of national communication and information systems. In 1999, they moved to Movius Interactive Corporation (glenayre) as a Cryptographic Engineer, designing ReFLEX Security Layer for ReFLEX pager networks and specifying an end-to-end security mechanism for integrating wireless devices to enterprise networks. In 2005, they joined Samsung Electronics as a Senior Engineer, designing and implementing HW architectures for core crypto algorithms including RSA, AES and SHA family targeting low power, small area, side-channel resistant and high performance. In 2007, Gokay S. became the Team Leader at Eczacibasi Bilişim, leading a team of engineers designing and developing software libraries for cryptography, audio, video and communications used in embedded systems. In 2009, they took on the role of Assistant Professor at Bogazici University, where they were awarded a TUBITAK Career Award #109E180. In 2015, Gokay S. joined HPE Security - Data Security as Principle Engineer. Finally, in 2020, they became the Lead Cryptographer & Co-founder at Semiotic AI.

Gokay S. began their educational journey at Ted Ankara Koleji from 1984 to 1991. Gokay then attended Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi from 1991 to 1996, where they earned a BSc in Mathematics. Following this, they earned an MSc in Mathematics from the same institution from 1996 to 1999. Gokay then moved to Oregon State University, where they earned a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2005.
