Asfaha Tesfai

Asfaha Tesfai has a strong background in the energy sector, with a focus on natural gas and power generation. Asfaha has held various leadership roles throughout their career, starting as a Senior Engineer at General Atomic Company, where they worked on the development of nuclear technologies. Asfaha then joined Pyropower Corporation, where they managed applications engineering and was involved in the development of Circulating Bed Combustion boilers and IPP power plants.

From there, Tesfai moved on to The AES Corporation as a Project Director and Vice President, working on coal-fired, natural gas-fired, and hydro power plants in multiple countries. Asfaha also participated in the acquisition of existing plants during government privatization efforts.

Asfaha then joined BP as a Vice President, leading business development and project development teams across various global locations. Asfaha'steams focused on different aspects of the natural gas value chain, including gas reserves, pipelines, power plants, and LNG terminals.

After their time at BP, Tesfai joined Future Energy Resources Corporation as a Senior Vice President.

Most recently, they have worked at Sempra LNG and Sempra LNG & Midstream as the Director of Commercial and Development. Here, they have been responsible for the development of LNG regasification terminals and liquefaction plants, negotiating partnerships and contracts, and leading due diligence efforts.

Asfaha Tesfai completed a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University between the years 1974 and 1978. Asfaha then pursued a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island from 1978 to 1980. Additionally, they obtained a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University from 1987 to 1989.
