Valerie Livingston is an experienced communications professional currently serving as the Head of News and Strategic Communications at Senedd since August 2022, where Valerie leads the media team and develops news strategies aligned with the Senedd Commission’s priorities. Previously, Valerie was the Director at Newsdirect Wales from November 2011 to July 2022, managing political monitoring and public affairs services across various sectors. Valerie also contributed as a Board Member for the Institute of Welsh Affairs and facilitated training for Community Housing Cymru ahead of the 2021 Senedd elections. Additional roles include authoring an OpenLearn course with The Open University, serving on the Digital News and Information Taskforce for the National Assembly for Wales, and working as a Press Officer for the SNP Westminster Group. Valerie holds an MA in European Political Administration from the College of Europe and an MA (Hons) in Politics from The University of Edinburgh.
