Ian Davies has a diverse work experience in the energy sector. Ian began their career at PwC, where they worked in the Energy and Mining Group from 2000 to 2004. Ian then moved to Barclays Capital as an Investment Banker from 2005 to 2007. During this time, they also worked at Austock as the Head of Energy for a brief period in 2007.
In 2007, Ian joined QGC and held various roles, including General Manager Ports and Infrastructure and General Manager Business Development. Ian played a key role in the A$15 billion LNG joint venture transaction with BG Group plc and the negotiation and execution of the A$5.
Ian joined Senex Energy Limited as Chief Executive Officer in 2010. Under their leadership, the company experienced significant growth and transformation. Ian is currently leading the company's strategy to capture emerging opportunities in Australia's energy sector.
In addition to their roles in the private sector, Ian serves as the Board Chair of the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) from 2021 to 2022.
Ian Davies has a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting from QUT (Queensland University of Technology). Ian is also a Chartered Accountant (Fellow) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA). Ian has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD). Additionally, they hold a certification from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment as a Cert SII (UK).
