Allison Bertrand has a diverse work experience in the field of medical and scientific research. Allison started their career at Swales Aerospace as a Scientific Programmer from January 2000 to April 2005. Allison then worked at Southwest Research Institute, where they held various roles including Research Analyst from April 2005 to October 2008, Senior Research Analyst from October 2008 to July 2011, and eventually became a Group Leader from October 2009 to July 2011.

Bertrand's most recent position was at Seno Medical Instruments, where they served as the System Evaluation Manager since February 2014. In this role, they designed and managed software verification for the first FDA-approved Opto-Acoustic breast cancer imaging system. Allison ensured test and requirements coverage for various aspects of the system, including user interface, data transfer, and image quality. Additionally, they were a founding member of the DICOM WG-34 Photoacoustic Working Group, contributing to the development of metadata and image storage support for the Photoacoustic/Opto-acoustic modality.

Allison Bertrand completed their education at William & Mary, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Physics from 1992 to 1996. Allison further pursued their studies in Applied Science - Nondestructive Evaluation and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree from William & Mary between 1996 and 1998.
