Darren Lochun has a wealth of experience in engineering and research. Darren began their career in 1996 as a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford, where they designed colour toners for high-resolution electrophotography. In 1998, they became a Research Fellow at Brunel University, where they researched MEH-PPV devices using printed conductors and insulators. In 2000, they were appointed Technology Manager of the Additive Circuit Technology Group at Nashua Corporation, where they optimized design for manufacture and devised test and reliability criteria. From 2005-2013, they worked at Nanosolar, first as a Distinguished Scientist, Product Engineering and then as Director of Device Integration, Product/Process Development. During this time, they designed and developed a novel solar cell architecture production process, and led a team to commission a manufacturing line from pilot concept. In 2013, they joined Elo Touch Solutions as Manager, PCAP Touch Sensor Technology, where they developed touch sensor components technologies for custom PCAP applications. Finally, from 2016-2018, they were a Staff Engineer/Engineering Manager at ENOVIX Corp., where they led the engineering team for cathode material development and process. Most recently, they have been a Principal Materials Integration Engineer at Sensel since 2018, where they have been the lead engineering resource for development and integration of materials into Sensel’s novel XY and Z sensing touch surfaces.
Darren Lochun attended Cranfield University from 1992 to 1995, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Electronics. Darren also attended Cranfield University from 1991 to 1992, obtaining a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Molecular Electronics. Prior to that, Darren attended Sheffield Hallam University from 1987 to 1991, where they obtained a BSc with Honors in Applied Chemistry. Additionally, Darren has obtained a certification in ISO 9000: 2008.
