Alan Jones

Senior Director, Business Development, Infrastructure IoT at Bentley Infrastructure IoT

Alan Jones has extensive work experience in the infrastructure, geomatics, and instrumentation sectors. Alan has held various positions in different companies throughout their career.

Jones started their career at Tarmac in 1987 as a Trainee. Alan then joined Balfour Beatty plc in 1990 as a Site Engineer, where they worked until 1993.

From 1993 to 1996, Jones worked at Boart Longyear (later known as ITM, itmsoil, ITM Monitoring, and now SOCOTEC) as a Contracts Engineer. Alan was involved in installing geotechnical monitoring equipment for the Jubilee Line Extension Project in London.

In 1996, Jones joined Slope Indicator, Co. as a Technical Manager, where they worked until 2008.

From 2008 to 2011, Jones worked at Applied Geomechanics, Inc. in various roles including Operations Manager, General Manager, and Manager of Technical & Special Projects. During their time there, they managed the development of a new GPS deformation monitoring system and implemented strategic alliances with Fiber Optic technology manufacturers.

In 2011, Jones joined SNC-Lavalin as the Director of Geomatics & Instrumentation. Alan was responsible for managing various groups within the company and providing internal support services. Alan worked on projects such as the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project in British Columbia.

From 2015 to 2023, Jones worked at Topcon Positioning Systems as a Senior Business Development Manager. Alan focused on expanding the company's footprint in the deformation monitoring sector globally.

Since 2023, Jones has been working at Bentley Infrastructure IoT as the Senior Director of Business Development for Infrastructure IoT.

Overall, Jones has accumulated a wealth of experience in business development, project management, technical support, and managerial roles in the infrastructure and geomatics fields.

Alan Jones attended Alderman Blaxill from 1979 to 1983, but did not obtain a degree or specialize in any particular field of study during this time. Afterward, they enrolled at Doncaster College from 1987 to 1990, where they pursued a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering.
