Wei Z. has a long and distinguished career in the technology and biotechnology industry. Wei'sexperience began in 1992 as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Emory University School of Medicine, where they researched colon cancer and coded early internet applications and bioinformatics software. In 1996, they began working as a Summer Associate and Part-time Associate at Affymetrix, a startup pioneering very high density DNA chips. In 1997, they became an Associate Attorney at Pennie & Edmonds, now Jones Day, where they were part of a small litigation team resolving disputes of inventions at the dawn of the biotechnology industry. In 1999, Wei Z. joined Affymetrix, Inc. as SVP, Advanced Technology and Intellectual Property. Wei witnessed the growth of Affymetrix from a startup to an industry leading public company and served on the technology review board and product review board, as well as being a member of the founding team of Affymetrix Laboratory. In 2008, they became a Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati. In 2012, they were appointed Senior Advisor at Covington & Burling. In 2016, they Co-Founded and became an Advisor at Sentieon. In 2021, they became the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Chimera Therapeutics, a company they co-founded with their hero Dr. Defu Zheng. Wei also founded and served as CEO of Centrillion Technology, Inc. from 2009 to 2021, where they focused on advancing DNA chip technology with applications in genomics, synthetic biology and DNA based computing and Data storage.
Wei Z. received a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1998, followed by a General Management Program from Harvard Business School in 2007. Prior to that, they earned a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 1992.
