Steven Simpson is a distinguished medical professional with extensive experience in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Currently serving as Chair of the Board of Directors and Senior Medical Advisor at Sepsis Alliance since August 2020, Simpson has significantly contributed to the understanding of sepsis through basic science research, particularly focusing on gram-positive sepsis and the molecular mechanisms of TNF alpha. Simpson's academic career includes a long tenure as Professor of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center since October 1998, alongside previous roles as Assistant Professor at University of New Mexico and Rush University Medical Center. Leadership roles include serving as President of the American College of Chest Physicians and Senior Advisor at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority. Educational qualifications include an MD from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a BS in Biology from Baker University.
