Ali Masoudi has a wealth of experience in the scientific field. Ali started their career in 2006 as a Research Assistant at the University of Washington. In 2007, they moved to the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute where they worked as a Research Associate. From 2009 to 2020, they worked at Duke University School of Medicine, first as a Postdoctoral Scholar, then as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, and finally as a Graduate Student where they analyzed interactions and molecular mechanisms of several key soluble and membrane-bound acyltransferase enzymes. In 2020, they co-founded Septerna and held roles as both a Staff Scientist and Senior Scientist.
Ali Masoudi obtained their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (minor: Chemistry) from the University of Washington. Ali then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry at Duke University School of Medicine, which they received in 2014. In October 2022, they earned a certification in 'From the Laboratory to Leadership' from The Leadership Edge. Additionally, they were awarded a Structural Biology and Biophysics Certificate from Duke University School of Medicine in 2014.
