Debie Montana

Debie Montana has an extensive background in environmental compliance and biological monitoring, with over 20 years of experience. Debie started their career as a Wildlife Biologist Intern at the Santa Clara Valley Water District in 1997. Debie then worked as a Wildlife Biologist-seasonal at H.T. Harvey & Associates from 1999 to 2000. Montana furthered their studies and research by working as a Research Assistant-Graduate Student at NASA Ames Research Center from 1999 to 2001, focusing on forest ecology in Yellowstone National Park.

In 2002, Montana joined Pacific Gas & Electric as a Wildlife Biologist, where they managed large-scale utility projects, including transmission line reconductoring, gas line installations, and FERC relicensing work. Debie also designed and implemented long-term studies to examine the effects of hydroelectric systems on wildlife and habitats.

Montana continued their career progression by becoming the Senior Program Manager Biological Services at ETIC Engineering in 2010. During their time there, they established and developed the Biological Services Department, expanded local services, and opened a satellite office.

In 2011, Montana founded Sequoia Ecological Consulting, where they currently serve as the President and CEO. In this role, they utilize their expertise in environmental compliance and biological study design to provide comprehensive services to clients.

Debie Montana obtained a Certificate in Project Management from the University of California, Davis in 2009-2010. Prior to that, they completed a B.S. and M.S. in Conservation Biology from San Jose State University between 1996 and 2002. Debie also holds a High School Diploma from Naperville Central, which they earned between 1985 and 1989. Additionally, they have obtained a certification in Project Management from UC Davis.
