Hailey Jongeward has a diverse work experience in various fields. In 2015, they worked as an Outreach Intern at the Wild Salmon Center, where they marketed forest policy issues and the importance of salmon runs. Hailey also worked as a Research Intern at Clean Water Services, implementing a study on mycoremediation techniques for the cleanup of contaminated street sweepings.
From 2016 to 2018, Hailey worked at REI as a Sales Specialist, providing customer service, team leadership, and outdoor education classes. Following that, they joined the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife as a Scientific Technician II, where they monitored and collected biological data from commercial and recreational fisheries.
In 2019, Hailey worked as a North Pacific Groundfish Observer for Saltwater Inc., collecting biological data aboard commercial fishing vessels in the Eastern Bering Sea. Hailey completed NOAA and National Marine Fisheries Service Scientific Certification and performed safety checks on vessels.
In 2020, they were a Lift Operations staff member for POWDR - MT. BACHELOR, LLC, ensuring the safety and adherence to COVID-19 protocols for guests.
In 2021, Hailey held multiple roles. Hailey worked as an Office Manager at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, providing clerical and customer support, issuing documents, licenses, and hunt tags. Hailey also worked as a Biological Science Assistant, implementing a creel survey to evaluate the impact on the threatened Bull Trout population at Odell Lake.
Hailey also gained experience in the wine industry, working as a Wine Specialist at Domaine Serene Vineyards & Winery from 2021 to 2022. Hailey led tasting flights, assisted in event execution, and provided mentorship to support staff.
Most recently, Hailey began working as a Laboratory Technician at Serán BioScience in 2023.
Hailey Jongeward obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Environmental Biology from Pacific University from the years 2011 to 2015. Hailey also obtained additional certifications in Wilderness First Aid and Wilderness First Responder from the Wilderness Medicine Training Center in May 2014.
