Chengqi Bian

Engineering Manager, Perception & Prediction at Serve Robotics

Chengqi Bian has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and machine learning. Chengqi is currently serving as an Engineering Manager for Perception & Prediction at Serve Robotics since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead for Perception & Prediction at Serve Robotics from March 2021 to February 2023. Before joining Serve Robotics, Chengqi worked at Uber as a Software Engineer in Machine Learning from December 2020 to February 2021, and at Postmates Inc. as a Software Engineer in Machine Learning from March 2019 to November 2020.

Chengqi also has experience in research and academia. Chengqi worked as a Research Software Engineer at General Motors from May 2018 to December 2018, where they developed new feature-aware Image Style transfer algorithms and researched on Adversarial Example generation for deep learning detection methods. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School from September 2016 to April 2018, focusing on AI research projects in the Artificial Intelligent System Lab. Furthermore, Chengqi interned at Horizon Robotics as an Algorithm Engineer Intern, where they worked on object and video detection using deep learning algorithms and optimized the SSD algorithm for video detection using optical flow and R-FCN techniques.

Chengqi Bian pursued their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University between the years 2013 and 2017. Following this, they went on to pursue a Master's degree in Computer and Information Science at the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School from 2016 to 2018.
