Jorge Chávez

Jorge Chávez serves as the Communications Program Manager at SEIU, a role held since September 2016, after progressing from Senior Communications Specialist. Previously, Jorge worked at Al Día/The Dallas Morning News from December 2007 to September 2016, where responsibilities included supervising production as News Editor and managing editing standards as Copy Chief. Earlier experience includes roles such as Wire Editor at Al Día/The Dallas Morning News and Investigative Reporter at El Diario de Juárez, focusing on crime and government issues. Additional positions encompassed language consulting and various editorial roles across different publications. Jorge holds a Master of Science in Mass Communication from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Arts in Print Media with a minor in Spanish from The University of Texas at El Paso, as well as being a Fellow at the Knight Digital Media Center at UC Berkeley.
