Kai Liu

Kai Liu is an accomplished professional in the field of artificial intelligence with extensive experience across various industries. Currently serving as the Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at SES AI Corp since February 2024, Liu leads initiatives to apply AI technologies in energy storage, particularly lithium-metal batteries. Prior to this role, Liu worked as the Director of Artificial Intelligence at Genentech, managing a skilled AI/machine learning team focused on drug development and personalized cancer therapies from January 2019 to January 2024. Additional experience includes positions at Apprente, Numenta, and Tencent America, where Liu developed neuroscience-inspired AI solutions and conducted deep learning research. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and a Master's degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University.
