Jon Bennett

Vice President of Government Relations at SES Space & Defense

Jon Bennett has a diverse work history in government relations and legislative affairs. Jon most recently served as the Vice President of Government Relations at SES Space & Defense. In this role, they led government affairs efforts to influence and educate top-level government officials on commercial satellite communication initiatives. Jon also established and chaired the SES Space & Defense Political Action Committee (PAC). Prior to this, Jon held the position of Vice President of Government Affairs, Marketing & Corporate Communications at the same company. In this role, they oversaw marketing and communications, including corporate communications, media relations, and customer-facing advertising. Jon also recommended positioning and strategies for internal and external communications.

Before joining SES Space & Defense, Jon worked at the Defense Security Service, where they held various roles including Senior Advisor in the Office of Public & Legislative Affairs and Executive Officer to the Deputy Director. In these positions, they managed congressional outreach activities and provided support to the Deputy Director.

Jon's career also includes experience at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where they served as a Legislative Specialist in the Office of Legislative Affairs. In this role, they were the primary point of contact for congressional outreach and drafted communications for DoD leadership.

Before moving to the defense sector, Jon worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Military Legislative Assistant and a Policy Staff Assistant for Congressman Bill Shuster and the Office of the House Majority Whip, Roy Blunt, respectively.

Jon Bennett obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from Ithaca College from 1999 to 2003. Jon then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Cyber Leadership (Cyber-L) with a focus on Information Resources Management at the National Defense University from 2014 to 2016. Additionally, they attended Villanova University in 2009 to 2010, but no degree or field of study information is provided.
