Metin Sitti

Metin Sitti has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and academia. Metin is currently serving as the Director at the Max-Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems since 2014. In addition, they hold the position of a Professor (side academic appointment) at ETH Zürich since June 2020 and at Koç University School of Medicine since October 2018.

Metin Sitti founded Setex Technologies in 2012. Prior to that, they were associated with Carnegie Mellon University as a Distinguished Service Professor (side academic appointment) and was the Director of the NanoRobotics Lab from 2002 to 2016. Metin started their academic career as a Research Scientist at UC Berkeley - EECS Dept. in 1999 and was also a Lecturer, teaching Micro/Nano-Robotics.

Metin Sitti began their professional journey as a Research Engineer at TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, CAD/CAM Robotics Group in 1994, where they conducted research on robot vision and intelligent robotics and worked on industrial projects related to quality control using automated vision and robotic systems.

Metin Sitti earned a BSc and MSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Physics from Boğaziçi University, where they studied from 1987 to 1994. Metin then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of Tokyo and completed it from 1996 to 1999.
