Harmen Wijkstra

Key Account Manager Customer Service

Harmen Wijkstra is a seasoned professional in the customer service and maritime sectors, currently serving as the Key Account Manager Customer Service at SGS since January 2023. Wijkstra took a sabbatical from April 2021 to March 2022 after a lengthy tenure at Saybolt International, where responsibilities included roles as Senior Account Manager and Operations Manager from January 1989 to March 2021. In this capacity, Wijkstra managed client relationships in a high-pressure environment focused on the international fuel trade. Previous experience includes serving as Deputy Branch Manager, Cargo Surveyor, and UN Oil Expert on Mission in Iraq. Additionally, Wijkstra contributed as a Crew Member and Deputy Skipper with KNRM from July 2002 to December 2012, supporting search and rescue missions at sea, and served as a Maritime Officer at Spliethoff from July 1985 to December 1988. Wijkstra holds a degree in Maritime Officer from Hogere Zeevaartschool Amsterdam and completed VWO education at van der Waals scholengemeenschap in Amsterdam.
