Wesam Khalil P.Eng. has accumulated extensive work experience in various roles and industries throughout their career. Wesam began their career as an Engineer in Training at The Arab Contractors, where they received training in mechanical and industrial equipment used in construction applications. Wesam then moved on to work as a Production Engineer at German Egyptian Technology, focusing on designing and producing piston rings for the auto industry.

In 1997, Wesam joined EZZSTEEL as a Plant Director, overseeing steel plant production, operation, optimization, and profitability improvement. Wesam achieved significant improvements in productivity and profitability during their time in this role.

In 2004, Wesam joined RHI Magnesita as the Head of Marketing and Business Development, providing marketing and technical services to EAF Steel shops in Canada and the USA. Wesam was responsible for establishing marketing strategies and setting annual targets for the company.

Afterward, Wesam held key leadership positions at Metso, where they served as the North America Business Development Director and later as the Head of Client Services. In these roles, they focused on business development, marketing, and managing service centers and teams responsible for spare parts, customer support, and project management.

In 2018, Wesam became the Chief Investment Officer of Canadian Exploration Holdings Inc., a mineral exploration company. Wesam also served on the company's Board of Directors. Additionally, they took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at SGTEX Inc., a Toronto-based company with global reach and a diverse range of business segments.

Wesam also served as a Strategic Advisor at GLG, offering consultation in various projects within the mining and metals industries globally. Their expertise extended to technical improvement, cost reduction, process optimization, and M&A projects.

Moreover, Wesam took on the role of Managing Partner at the Arab Science and Technology Foundation in Canada, representing and managing all activities for the organization. Their responsibilities included developing relationships with NGOs and nonprofit organizations, empowering women in STEM, and linking investors to innovative projects.

Wesam Khalil P.Eng., the CEO of SGTEX Inc., holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cairo University, which they obtained between 1991 and 1996. In addition to their formal education, Wesam has pursued further certifications and memberships to enhance their professional qualifications. Wesam obtained a certification in Inclusive Leadership from LinkedIn in September 2020, and in April 2017, they completed a course on The Importance of Purpose in the Workplace, also through LinkedIn. Wesam has obtained various memberships and certifications related to their field, including being a member of Engineers Canada and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers since May 2007. Moreover, they obtained certifications such as the EAF committee for AIST from the Association for Iron & Steel Technology in August 2009, an AIST membership in May 2007, and a certification from Professional Engineers Ontario. Furthermore, they obtained a certification from the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) in 2013.
