Ayub Khan

Ayub Khan is Head of Universal Services for Warwickshire County Council, which include libraries, museums, heritage and archives. He started his career in education and children’s services and went on to work on the early concepts and designs for the new Library of Birmingham, which houses a major Shakespeare collection. He is a former member of the UK UNESCO Culture Committee and was recently appointed to the Cultural Leadership Board of the West Midlands Combined Authority. Ayub’s interests extend to international co-operation with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion, particularly as a former refugee. He has worked on library and cultural projects in several countries for the British Council and is currently on the Governing Board of the International Federation of Library Associations. He has recently advised on a museums project in Basra, as part of the DCMS Cultural Protection Fund initiative. In 2013, Ayub was awarded an MBE for his services to libraries and culture. He is a past President of CILIP, the UK’s Library and Information Association. Currently he is also Vice-Chair of the Midlands Area Council for Arts Council England.
