Renuka Ramanathan

Renuka Ramanathan, PhD, serves as Director of Business Development & Alliance Management, Director of Intellectual Property and Partnerships, and Director of Intellectual Property at Shape Therapeutics Inc. since August 2020. Prior experience includes roles as Advanced Patent Agent, Patent Agent, and Scientific Advisor at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati from April 2016 to August 2020. At the University of Washington, Renuka held the position of Senior Postdoctoral Fellow, specializing in engineering polymer-based, electrospun nanofibers for hormonal contraceptives. Renuka co-founded Empreva, where development focused on commercialization strategies for polymer-based nanofibers aimed at HIV chemoprophylaxis. Educational qualifications include a dual PhD in Bioengineering and NanoTech & Molecular Engineering from the University of Washington, along with additional studies in business and entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School Online and the UW Foster School of Business. Renuka holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
