Tony Salas has a diverse background in the agricultural industry, with experience in various roles and organizations.
Tony is currently the CEO of Shared-X, where they raise capital and implements farms in an associative model with small producers. Tony also works with smallholder farmers worldwide.
Prior to this, Tony served as the President and Business Development Officer at ACM - Agribusiness Consulting & Management, where they oversaw consulting projects and investments in Latin America. Tony also promoted investments and provided business planning services to the private sector.
Tony is also the Founder and Partner of Iberocons, where they provided scientific and technical assistance to institutions and companies in Latin America for modernizing their production systems. Tony has also developed sector plans in several Latin American countries.
In terms of education, they served as the Head of the Agribusiness Management Program of the Graduate School at Universidad de Almería and Universidad del Pacífico.
Tony also has experience in the public sector, having served as the General Regional Manager and External Presidential Advisor at the Gobierno Regional de San Martín in Peru. Tony effectively managed the regional budget and worked on various social issues.
Furthermore, they served as the Director and a Member of the Board of Trustees at the International Potato Center (CIP) and as the Director General (Vice-Minister rank) at INIA - Instituto Nacional de Innovacion Agraria. In these roles, they efficiently managed resources, established modern procedures, and successfully raised funds from international grants and governmental donations.
Earlier in their career, Tony founded and served as the CEO of Gen Perú S.A.C., where they conducted technical and economic evaluations and designed strategies for agribusinesses.
Tony Salas has a strong education background in both business and science. Tony obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Food and Agribusiness from Purdue University Daniels School of Business in 2004. Prior to that, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics from North Carolina State University in 1997. In 1993, Tony Salas earned a Master of Science (MS) degree from the same institution, specializing in Plant Breeding and Genetics with a minor in Statistics. Tony has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological Science from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, which they obtained in 1990.
