Ara K.

Ara K. serves as the Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sharp Grossmont and the Chief of Surgery. In January 2024, Ara K. co-founded the Lung Nodule Institute of San Diego and continues as Managing Partner. Since July 2000, Ara K. has directed the Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Institute of San Diego. Previous experience includes working as a cardiac surgeon at Sharp/Scripps/UCSD Hospitals from 2007 to 2009 and serving as a cardiothoracic surgeon from 1999 to 2009. Ara K. obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Albany Medical College, completed a Chief Residency in General Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, and held a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at UC San Diego.
