Harriet Russell began their work experience in 2012 as a journalist at Vitesse Media. In 2014, they moved on to the Financial Times, initially serving as a Companies Writer at Investors Chronicle before becoming a Sectors Editor. In 2019, they joined The Telegraph as a Reporter and later that year, they started working at SheerLuxe as a Sub-Editor & Features Editor. Harriet progressed to become a Group Sub-Editor & Features Editor and is currently serving as the Chief Sub-Editor & Features Manager.

Harriet Russell attended the University of Cambridge from 2008 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honors degree in Politics, Psychology, and Sociology. The field of study is not specified.
