Ruth Mullins Perry, PhD, is an accomplished marine science and regulatory policy specialist currently serving as the Head of Permitting and Development for Power Generation at Shell since March 2014. In this role, Ruth supports the Government Relations efforts in the Americas, focusing on integrating marine science and ocean technology into regulatory policy. In addition, Ruth has been an adjunct faculty member at the American Public University System since January 2013, teaching courses in Oceanography and Geographic Information Systems. Previous experience includes postdoctoral research positions at the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System and the Geochemical Environmental Research Group at Texas A&M University, where Ruth worked on coastal hypoxia and ocean observing systems. Ruth holds a PhD in Oceanography, a Master's degree in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography with a focus on GIS, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology, all from Texas A&M University.
